Policy

How we find, check, label and publish Fortnite news and leaks.

Last updated 6 November 2026 5 min read
Facts first

Every story is based on something we can point to.

Clear labels

You can always see whether something is confirmed, datamined or a rumour.

Checked by a person

A person at 9NTY reviews stories before they go live.

01 Facts first

Every story is built on something we can point to: an official Epic announcement, the live Item Shop, or data we recorded from the game files. Where the source is public, the story links to it. If we can't back something up, we don't publish it as fact.

02 What our labels mean

Every story carries a label at the top so you know how certain it is before you read a word.

LabelWhat it means
OfficialEpic has announced or confirmed it.
Verified discoveryWe've checked it against live data, for example it's in today's Item Shop.
DataminedFound in the game files. Not a release date. It can change or never come out.
UnconfirmedReported, but not confirmed by Epic or by data. We say so at the top.
RumourTalked about, with no proof yet. Treat it with care.
DevelopingDetails are still coming in. We add dated updates as they do.
CorrectedWe fixed a mistake in this story. See the Corrections policy.

03 How we handle leaks

Leaks on 9NTY come from Fortnite's own game files after an update. We report what's in the files: names, images, descriptions and sets. We don't guess release dates. When a leaked item reaches the Item Shop, our Leak tracker records the date and how long it sat in the files.

We don't publish leaks that come from hacking, stolen accounts, private Epic systems or anything shared under a confidentiality agreement.

04 How stories are made

Some drafts are prepared automatically from recorded data, using fixed templates that only state facts we recorded. A person at 9NTY reviews every story before it's published. The one exception is short automatic notes about items reaching the Item Shop, when that's switched on.

Stories are published under "9NTY" unless a named author wrote them. We never use AI-generated images.

05 What we never do

  • Invent release dates, prices, quotes or sources.
  • Present leaks or rumours as confirmed.
  • Use clickbait headlines the story doesn't support.
  • Quietly rewrite a story after it's published.
  • Take payment to change what a story says.

06 Adverts and the creator code

The only promotion on 9NTY is our Support-A-Creator code, always marked #AD. It never affects what we report or how we label it.

07 Updates to this policy

If we change how we work, we update this page and the date at the top.
